Lauren Carlson, a fourteen-year-old expert on the cosmos, superheroes, and science fiction trivia has a crush on her longtime camp friend, Seth. Last summer she’d dreamed about upgrading their relationship to BF/GF status and this year she has a plan… if only her well-meaning cabin mates wouldn’t interfere before she’s ready. She hasn’t even adjusted to her new braces yet, let alone imagined kissing Seth with them. When a dare pushes her out of her comfort zone, will she and Seth rocket out of the friendzone at last? There’s only one way to find out…
Spencer Hill Contemporary (You can download the novella for free.)
This was a very short and sweet novella. I’ve been to camp, so this brought back memories for me. I remember getting ready for the big dance and wondering if anyone would ask me to dance or try to kiss me. So it was fun to take a trip down memory lane.
Lauren and Seth have been friends forever and they both want to take their relationship beyond the borders of friendship. Lauren hopes this will be the summer it happens, and her friends are pushing her to act on her feelings. So much so that they dare her to kiss Seth before the summer is over. Only after Lauren and Seth do kiss, things don’t exactly go as Lauren hoped.
I read this in one sitting and thought it was a cute summer read.
So excited for the mention, Ashelyn! Thank you!! We are looking forward to Behind Closed Doors and hope to be a part of the Cover Reveal on our Tumblr. Good luck with the new release and thanks for checking out Camp Kiss!
You’re welcome! And I’m so glad you want to be part of the Behind Closed Doors Cover Reveal that YA Bound is setting up for me. 🙂
I like the title. I’ve never been to camp, although on my block the summers were all about games, swimming, scary stories, biking, etc.,. It felt like what camp would be. Sounds like a good summer read.
That does sound a lot like summer camp. I never went to summer camp, but I worked at one. The kids were really young though, so nothing like in this book.
