New Love vs. Long-term Love

I know some authors who prefer to write about couples who are already in love when the book begins. They want all those emotions and everything that goes with them right from the start. Others like the build up a new relationship brings—the tension and emotion that leads to that first kiss.

Me, I love both, and I’ve written both. New love is always exciting because emotions are on high. We don’t really know what’s going to happen or if things will work out for the couple. It’s exciting to write. But existing love means you can get steamy from page one, and let’s face it, readers love that too.

So which is better? In my opinion, neither. They both have something great to offer readers. What do you think? Do you prefer reading about new love or long-term love? Share you thoughts in the comments.

  1. Both are great, but I love being part of the couples beginning. I like to read how they meet and how they fall in love. If that could extend into more books where their love is long-term, all the better! 🙂
